Hi, I’m Parrish, I live in Virginia mom to a crazy little boy, wife to the milkman, cook, baker, party planner, book obsessed, nap deprived blogger who loves sharing her easy and yummy recipes with everyone!

Parrish Ritchie

I like to create recipes that are easy but delicious, quick but gorgeous, I share the food I like to eat and make and if I can make my recipes with a grumpy kid fussing and throwing dinosaurs into the kitchen you can too!

I see some recipe sites either make long complicated recipes or focus on getting you in and out of the kitchen in like 15 minutes and I always craved something in between.  I don’t have hours to spend cooking dinner but I can spare more than 15.  So I like to share the recipes I actually cook for dinner which are all family friendly.  I also love to bake and share many desserts on here but those don’t take much time to whip up either :)

I do have a few super quick recipes on here, and I do have a few that take a little time, but mostly I have recipes for the everyday cook, the mom who wants to provide a full family approved meal to their family and be proud of what they put on their plates.

So grab a pan, open up that fridge and get cooking!

Every once in a while I will blog about this wonderful thing called motherhood, because I love it and it was a wake up call though how motherhood isn’t perfect. My pregnancy wasn’t perfect, I wasn’t glowing, in fact I was covered in a pregnancy induced PUPPS rash.  I learned labor is not all about filling your hospital room with balloons and streamers and waiting for the baby to arrive according to your specific birth plan, that stuff just covers up the blood, sweat, tears, and God knows what else.

After he was born I learned it is okay that my house isn’t spotless, I spend most days in yoga pants with my hair in a bun. Dean does not sit quietly and eat all his veggies at dinner and sometimes he stays up too late watching Pocoyo or Pingu (which drives me crazy, neither of them speak!)

I know mothering is hard and I want to to tell all mom’s you are doing a great job, the crunchy moms, the organic moms, the pizza and a movie on the floor moms, the working moms, the stay at home moms, all kinds of moms and it’s okay, we’ve all been involved in a toy aisle meltdown or gotten frustrated when our kid has insisted on mac and cheese every night for the dinner and it’s ..gasp.. the blue box kind.

So good job mommy, you deserve some cake (which I have several recipes for lol)

I am that crunchy mom who chefs up blue boxes of mac & cheese. I’m good at it, I know how to make that neon colored cheese powder do unbelievable things! I’m here via Bloggy Moms and I think your blog is great. I’m definitely a new reader.

Hi Parrish – just wanted to say thanks for linking up to my special About Me Pity Party last week. Fun reading about you. I fall somewhere in between- not a crunchy mom but not the pizza and movie on the floor either (though I’ve had my fair share of craziness). Thanks again for linking up!

I remember those early mom days so well – wish I could have had someone like you to read and share with then!! It is hard and reading blogs where everything is always perfect doesn’t really help all of us who are just normal people/moms trying to do our best. Can’t wait till your book comes ou!!

I can totally relate to most of this! Pregnancy was not fun for me either. Whoever said that pregnancy was a wonderful experience and that you would feel the best you have ever felt, LIED! Lol! In the midst of all of those “perfect mommy blogs” we need real people like you! I, too, consider myself a “tell-all” blogger. Being a mom is tough stuff! Kudos to you!

Come check me out some time over on my blog A Plethora of Pondering’s.

Just came across you while hunting for blogs that weren’t aimed at the perfect stay at home mom who manages to cook 3 gourmet organic meals a day, keep a spotless, immaculately decorated home, take her kids on educational field trips AND keep her hair, nails, make up and clothing absolutely perfect. I have 3 kids and I have come to the conclusion that either a lot of these women are faking it or they are just exhausted from doing it all AND blogging about it. Thank goodness there are some moms out there like me who do the best they can and as long as the kids are fed and happy, it’s all good. Keep on writing the truth! :)

Just stopping by from The SITS Girls Blogtober fest…your About Me page is very honest and straightforward! I like it, and I think it is well done. Just so you know, my children are grown now, but my son would have made material for decades of stories…your kind of stories! He was the kind of kid that everyone else had an opinion on how I should handle him, but I went with my gut, and he turned out fabulously…finally, but fabulously. Nothing was ever easy with my son, but I love him and kept loving him no matter what, and it all paid off! No one knows what’s right for your child, except for you. Why? Because you love your child and that love will guide you. I’m so glad we got to know each other somewhat through the various SIT Girls options!
